Contexto histórico de España

En 1808, España fue invadida por los ejércitos napoleónicos. La ocupación francesa hizo irreversible la crisis del absolutismo borbónico, agravó las dificultades económicas y abocó una guerra contra el invasor, en
la que se mezcló la defensa de la monarquía tradicional con las ideas de libertad originadas por la Revolución francesa. La Constitución de 1812 fue un fiel reflejo de muchos esos principios liberales.

La derrota de Napoleón por las potencias absolutistas europeas (1815) significó la vuelta al viejo orden, pero los vientos de libertad ya no podrían ser amordazados y en el reinado de Fernando VII (1814-1833), España y Europa entera se debatió entre el absolutismo y el liberalismo.

In 1808, Spain was invaded by the Napoleonic armies. The French occupation made irreversible the crisis of the Bourbon absolutism, aggravated the economic difficulties and a war led against the invader, in which there was mixed the defense of the traditional monarchy by the ideas of freedom originated by the French Revolution. The Constitution of 1812 was a faithful reflection of many this liberal beginning. Napoleon's defeat for the absolutist European powers (1815) meant the return to the old order, but the winds of freedom already might not be gagged and in the reign of Fernando VII (1814-1833), Spain and entire Europe was debated between the absolutism and the liberalism.
